A valve may spend months between delivery and start-up. Appropriate storage preserves sealing surfaces, actuator components and documentation during that period.
Inspect on receipt
Check the packing condition and compare delivered items with the packing list. Record damage or missing accessories promptly. Retain the valve identification and documents together. Do not remove protective caps or preservation materials earlier than the installation procedure requires.
Follow the specific preservation instructions
Storage position, humidity control and periodic checks depend on the valve and actuator. Protect the assembly from dirt, water, corrosion and physical impact. Electronic accessories and air connections need suitable protection. A general outdoor crate is not automatically adequate for prolonged storage in a humid or marine environment.
Recheck before installation
Inspect for corrosion, damaged seals, missing plugs or signs of water ingress. Verify that preservation has not blocked functional connections. If the storage period exceeds the manufacturer’s guidance, request an appropriate reinspection or service procedure. Do not assume the original factory test alone proves the condition after uncontrolled storage.
Practical checklist
- Receiving inspection and identification records.
- Clean, dry and protected storage conditions.
- Manufacturer-specific preservation schedule.
- Reinspection before installation and start-up.
