Nominal size and pressure class do not fully define the fit of a replacement valve. Face-to-face length, flange drilling, bore, gasket arrangement and actuator envelope must all be checked.
Measure the installed interface
Record flange spacing, bolt circle, hole size and number, flange face type and nearby obstructions. Photographs help, but they should supplement dimensions rather than replace them. For a wafer valve, bolt lengths and clearance around the body and segment are especially important.
Use the correct drawing revision
A manufacturer may supply multiple body patterns or standards within one product family. The approved general arrangement should identify the exact series and configuration. Do not scale dimensions from a website image or assume that two valves labelled DN100 share the same face-to-face length.
Consider maintenance access
The actuator, solenoid and positioner may extend farther than the body. Check whether the assembly can be installed, operated and removed without dismantling unrelated equipment. If a spool modification is required, include it in the project scope and schedule before ordering the valve.
Practical checklist
- Actual flange spacing and drilling.
- Selected valve drawing and revision.
- Gasket, bolting and bore clearance.
- Actuator service and removal envelope.
