Body material labels help identify a broad material choice. They do not, by themselves, establish corrosion resistance for a particular mixture or define the materials of the complete valve.
Separate cast body and internal components
The body, shaft, seat and segment can have different material forms and grades. An offer stating a stainless body may still use a different seat substrate, coating or fastener material. Request a component-level schedule for wetted parts and for exposed external parts where the environment is corrosive.
Assess the actual exposure
Temperature, concentration, chlorides, acidity, crevices and suspended solids can all influence the choice. The addition of alloying elements can improve resistance in some conditions without making a material universally resistant. Do not substitute an alloy solely because its common name sounds more premium.
Confirm traceability where needed
If the project requires material certification or positive material identification, define the document type, components to be checked and acceptance criteria in the order. Keep records linked to the valve tag or serial number. A material label on a web page is useful screening information, not the full project material approval.
Practical checklist
- Body, segment, seat and shaft grades.
- All secondary seals and coatings.
- Fluid and environmental exposure.
- Requested material documents and identification checks.
