V-port valves for pulp & paper
Stock flow. Fiber handling. Stable control.
Pulp stock, dilution water, white water and process chemical service.
Stock consistency and fiber behavior can change both hydraulic response and closing torque. The V-notch edge is a useful candidate where the duty combines modulation with fibers; it does not make every stock line interchangeable.
Specify the duty
- Minimum, normal and maximum stock consistency, fiber type and entrained air
- Flow range, pump curve and pressure available across the valve at each case
- Potential rejects, wire, sand and other contaminants
- Required shut-off direction, flushing arrangement and cleaning frequency
Where the decision changes
For an isolation-only stock line, review a suitable knife gate valve alongside the segmented design. High-consistency stock needs a dedicated flow-path and dewatering review; do not extrapolate a water Cv calculation.
From process information to a package
Start with minimum, normal and maximum operating cases. Select the hydraulic capacity, then verify materials, seat performance and actuator torque. Include the required response to lost air, power or control signal. Review maintenance access, installation dimensions and documentation before freezing the order.
