V-port valves for power & utilities
Review pressure recovery and temperature.
Selected cooling water, plant utilities and compatible thermal-process service.
A compact rotary valve can provide useful capacity, but high pressure drop can introduce cavitation or noise. Temperature also changes the allowable pressure of the body and the suitability of seals and packing.
Specify the duty
- Upstream and downstream pressures for all operating cases
- Liquid vapor pressure or gas properties at temperature
- Required noise limit and downstream piping details
- Thermal cycling, actuator ambient exposure and failure response
Where the decision changes
Severe steam, flashing or high-energy pressure reduction may require purpose-built severe-service trim or another valve family. The process envelope determines the choice.
From process information to a package
Start with minimum, normal and maximum operating cases. Select the hydraulic capacity, then verify materials, seat performance and actuator torque. Include the required response to lost air, power or control signal. Review maintenance access, installation dimensions and documentation before freezing the order.
Useful next steps
