Quality you can specify.
Documents you can review.
Build the inspection and documentation requirements into the order, before manufacturing begins.
| Stage | What to agree | Typical evidence to request |
|---|---|---|
| Technical review | Duty envelope, material schedule, standards and deviations | Approved valve datasheet and drawing |
| Material control | Traceability scope, inspection documents and material verification | Material certificates; PMI records when ordered |
| Manufacturing | Machining, trim finishing, coating and dimensional requirements | Inspection records and agreed hold points |
| Valve testing | Shell and seat tests under specified procedures | Test report identifying valve tag, medium, pressure and result |
| Package testing | Travel, direction, feedback, positioner and failure response | Assembly functional test / FAT record |
| Release | Marking, preservation, packing and document completeness | Packing list, release record and operating information |
Current certificates for your project
Request current management-system and product certificates, including the applicable scope, manufacturer name and validity. Historical brochure references are useful background, but current acceptance depends on the documents covering the offered product and manufacturing location.
Leakage classes need test conditions
Identify the exact standard and class, test medium, differential pressure, flow direction and actuator seating conditions. A shut-off class is not a promise of zero leakage under every operating condition. A certificate held by a manufacturer also does not automatically cover every actuator or accessory supplied in an assembly.
Factory acceptance testing
A practical FAT can include document review, nameplate checks, dimensional inspection, valve pressure tests and a functional stroke test of the completed package. Witness requirements and acceptance criteria should be agreed in the purchase specification.
