The bracket and coupling transmit actuator movement and torque to the valve. Flexibility, misalignment or lost motion in this connection can degrade regulation even when the valve and actuator are individually suitable.
Check the full mechanical interface
A matching mounting-flange pattern does not by itself prove compatibility. Verify shaft dimensions, key or spline engagement, coupling length, alignment and permissible torque. The assembly must avoid side loading and maintain the intended relationship between actuator travel and segment position.
Recognize lost motion
If the actuator moves before the valve shaft follows, backlash or deformation may create deadband. The positioner can report movement at its sensor while the fluid sees less change. Trending command and actuator feedback may need to be supplemented by safe mechanical inspection of the actual shaft connection.
Include mounting in acceptance
Review the assembled drawing and support requirements. Test full travel, indication and stroke direction under the agreed procedure. When retrofitting an existing actuator, verify both torque suitability and the interface dimensions; reusing a convenient bracket without calculation can undermine the whole package.
Practical checklist
